Week 88: Expect the Unexpected‏

Pablo was the very last person I ever expected to see walk through the doors of the chapel.
In fact, I was left dumbfounded upon the fact that he didn't burst into flames upon doing so.
The day before, we had made a list of people that we were expecting to have show up he didn't even make the "maybe category." If he had made it into a category at all it would be under the list of people who's work would be done during the end of the millennium.
He is the husband/boyfriend of a strong canadate for baptism, Ivette, they have 2 children, his wife/girlfriend has already recieved an answer that the church (and the book of mormon) is true. And ever since she has received her answer she has been having many....I guess you could call them visions? Where she sees herself in many scenes of the bible and also her ancestors telling her to be baptized for herself and for them as well too and....
You get the idea.
The only problem is that she is not married to her husband (we are in the process of that right now) and also because her husband is a little bit anti-Mormon. The phrase "a little bit" used in this sentence means, "very much so, but we are giving him the benefit of the doubt." He's the type of person that, when we told him to pray to find out that Joseph Smith is a prophet he told us that he wasn't willing to do it because he "didn't even believe that he could be." And then afterwards he started to bombard us with a bunch of questions that were obviously internet-born
So, that Sunday, upon going to the chapel we were watching all of the people file in and we saw that Ivette came alone with her two sons. She has been putting forth her best effort in spite of her circumstances.
The church service was great, Carlos and Sylvia came to the services (They had a few questions about if they could be baptized again and wanted to talk to the bishop....they did and he told them that it was absolutely allowed! So the bishop set up a baptismal date for the on the 12th of April), and a member brought their friend Dina (who we are planning to invite to baptism today). There was a future missionary who leaves on Wednesday who talked about the story of Ammon and the sons of Mosiah, he shared a great scripture, "Now these sons of Mosiah were with Alma at the time the angel first appeared unto him; therefore Alma did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord; yea, and they had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth; for they were men of a sound understanding and they had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God. But this is not all; they had given themselves to much prayer, and fasting; therefore they had the spirit of prophecy, and the spirit of revelation, and when they taught, they taught with power and authority of God.
Afterwards we held the Gospel Principles class where we were talking about the offices of the Priesthood....and half way through, Ivette looked out the window, stood up and walked outside. A couple of minutes later she walked in hand-in-hand with her husband, Pablo. Elder Hughes and I just turned to each other and said "No way!"
There were so many miracles that I could tell you that happened this week....but I would never have enough time in the world to finish writing it all....so just know that the Lord is pouring out blessings upon us here in Zona Utatlan and as the South Mission...and that April will be a great month.
